The island is heaving with folk mainly from Jakarta (the capital of Indonesia) and mainly of Chinese descent. They are the nouveau riche of Southeast Asia.
What is does show is the massive gap between rich and poor in Asia! Talking of those less well off remember my friend from Sumatra who wanted desperately to go to Australia to start a new life?
Well, he went for one month and was n’t impressed. He did n’t like the food, the people and most importantly (in his opinion) the fact that sea temperature is a long way short of what he is used to. He should try surfing in England! Brrr.

well there’s always the trade off between quality of life, and earning potential.
different scale i know, but it’s like me being able to earn £20k more in london. the problem would be having to live in london!
we currently have lost of polish folk coming over here - having been to poland, when you have money there it’s an amazing place to live, however they have to come over here and work their arses off for a few years in order to be rich back home.
