Inspired by a comment on another website message board I am going to write a little about comfort zone. The comment went something along the lines on if your life is not making you wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat then you are not pushing your boundaries.
I am currently well within my comfort zone. I am surrounded by a familiar environment, with familiar people doing familiar things.
So what I am going to do about this? Well I am off to Singapore on Thursday to meet a friend from home who is working there for short while. Hardly pushing the boundaries of travel in Southeast Asia!
Well after that I am heading to Thailand to meet another friend for a few weeks. Still not pushing my boundaries I admit! Later in November I am travelling through Cambodia and Vietnam which should, in theory, take me out of the comfort zone.

Dont’t be fooled into thinking this little boy on Kuta beach tonight is a lonely soul. Behind him was about 50000 people, mainly from Java on their holidays!
So I am meant to be a working nomad. Well at the moment I am more nomad than working. There are plenty of distractions here in Bali, not least the daytime activities of surfing and sunbathing.
I am doing a little at night but it’s more catching up with email and checking stats than actually being productive.
This is turning into a passive income which sounds great but over time my earnings will slowly erode away. I am not having a bad month earnings wise but no where near as good as September.
So I need to motivate myself again. If there was one big challenge in this way of working and living its getting off my butt and working!

Indonesia is in holiday mode now celebrating the end of the Muslim festival of Ramadan. The usual tourists beating a path in Bali are the less mortals of budget travellers and Aussies on their cheap package holidays.
The island is heaving with folk mainly from Jakarta (the capital of Indonesia) and mainly of Chinese descent. They are the nouveau riche of Southeast Asia.
What is does show is the massive gap between rich and poor in Asia! Talking of those less well off remember my friend from Sumatra who wanted desperately to go to Australia to start a new life?
Well, he went for one month and was n’t impressed. He did n’t like the food, the people and most importantly (in his opinion) the fact that sea temperature is a long way short of what he is used to. He should try surfing in England! Brrr.

15 hours flying through 8 timezones and I feel as rough as a badger’s arse so I am not going to write much.
Does anyone else find they suffer more when they fly West to East?

This will be my last post from a temperate climate for a while as I head back towards the equator. The summer in the UK has officially been the longest on record. Despte this people still claim there is no climate change happening!
I do believe there is such a condition as seasonal affective disorder (or SAD as it’s known here) and I think I may have suffered midly from it in the past. Those gloomy short winter days definetly made me slightly depressed!
So it will be a few days before I am back online. My priority will be the waves of the Indian ocean.

Well as Webby gets ready to take off on another exotic adventure, I seem to be stuck in some dodgy time warp in front of my computer. Not only have I not made any more money despite having pumped out a few extra sites - but I seem to be making less! Ok seriously now… time for a kick in the pants!
Two things I think I’ve been neglecting are adding more content to my current, most successful site and also getting new incoming links. Instead I seem to be spending time on fixing little back end things and tweaking bits that annoy me but that no one else would ever notice. Judging by all the ‘content is king’ preachers on webmaster forums I think I should start taking their advice and flesh out my main site a bit. Especially since it doesn’t seem to take too long for new articles I write to get picked up by Google and bring in good traffic.
So tonight I think I’ll finish off some half-finished bits of literary genius. I actually find putting a new article up on my site to be the most rewarding out of any of the tweaks and additions I make so here’s hoping I can learn a lesson and get back on it!

The Working Nomad channel is now live on Youtube with my first (somewhat dull) video of me showing what I have to pack for my trip.
http://www.youtube.com/workingnomad
If anyone is a Youtube expert can someone tell me how they select the shot from your video to show as the image? Any help appreciated as I cannot work it out!
Just doing my final packing now and booking onward flights and organising trips. It’s all go at the moment!

I have finally got the online travel / expat living calculator uploaded. I have only added two places for now (Bali & Switzerland) but will be adding plenty more over the next few months.
It should give potential Working Nomads an idea of how expensive a place is to live (or how cheap somewhere is in the case of much of Southeast Asia!).
October is still looking like a poor month. Traffic is well down on some of my main sites just like they were last October. I am hoping this poor performance is just a seasonal thing!

Leading on from my last post about shooting short video while I am away the idea is starting to take some shape. My intention is to broadcast one short documentary every week (5-8 mins) that gives a real insight into the ups and downs of being a working nomad.
I have put the idea out on the Working Nomad forum and the feedback is that I need some sort of angle to make this work. A good example of one such person that has done this is Where the Hell is Matt who is dancing around the world!
Making the working nomad life of running websites and travelling entertaining is going to be a challenge so I am hoping to come up with some amusing ideas. If you have any for me then let me know!
The first episode will be about pre-trip planning and will be shown next week.

Back in the UK after a delightful 4 days in the South of France with my Mother and getting prepared to take off next week to Asia for the winter WN adventure.
The post that I wrote this time last year could have been written for today as well. Back in my home town, preparing to fly to Bali next week and even having a poor month on the earnings front!
In my post last year I mentioned an idea about taking photos of crazy places to work. Well that never really happened but I do plan to shoot more video this year. The videos should give an insight into how easy it is to work and travel. Watch out YouTube!
