June 2006

I am toying with the idea of letting people run their own blogs within the WN site. It would be based on Wordpress and full training and marketing advice would be given (where needed).

There would be a link from the WN home page to your blog giving you excellent exposure.

Here are a few other benefits.

- Your blog would go straight into the search engines
- You will have a major place in the WN community
- All money made from your blog will go back to you
- You will be part of the 166,474 th most successful site on the planet (Alexa ranking)
- You are getting technical and marketing support from the one and only Webby!

Sounds too good to be true? Well it is n’t. My long term goal for this site is to make it a true community site. We have made a good start with the Forum and comments on the blogs but I want to move it up a gear and you will be helping me as well.

All I ask in return is that your blog sits within the theme of this site. Being a working nomad, whether it is with a laptop or a paintbrush (I met an artist the other day who is also a WN). Even if you are planning to be a working nomad that’s fine. After all I started this site before I became a WN.

There is a discussion here about it on the WN Forum if you have any specific questions.

Here is an example - Anna’s Painting and Travelling Blog

If you are interested email me at workingnomad@yahoo.co.uk and we can discuss the finer points.

Watches Sir?My plan had been to spend most of my last month in Kuta surfing, chilling by the beach and watching the World Cup but like so many that visit this part of the world I feel the need to get the hell out!

Kuta is famous for it’s hawkers and generally the vibe is good natured. They are after all just trying to make a living in a tough country. However they have been chipping away at me over the last few days and I need some peace and serenity!

I think the lack of tourists (Aussies in particular) is driving these people to new heights in the art of hassling! Apart from that the place is awash with large groups of beer swilling Europeans here for the World Cup and the place is slowing turning into a resort on the Med. Not really my scene anymore!

So I am heading up to Ubud for a few days escape.

I had a storming last week in May and it has been a record month for earnings, but only just. I made slightly more than I did in March coming in just under £1600 or USD$ 3010.

Looking at the value in USD I guess that I breaking the $3000 barrier is quite a milestone for me which is good motivation.

My new goal was to be earning £500 a week by the time I get home in July but I don’t think this is going to happen. June has seen a very quiet start and I’ll be doing well to match May.

Internet traffic goes down quite a bit in the US/Europe summertime and the Football World Cup will not help either!

I am not going to panic if my earnings takes a dive. I will be going home with more money in the bank than when I left London last October so the overall goal for this trip will have been achieved.
