Tomorrow will be the longest Monday imaginable for me and a day I’ll probably never forget. The day will start at 3.30 am when my taxi picks me up for the ride to Sydney airport.
I then fly back to Auckland and have a 5 hour wait at the airport before boarding my flight at 17.00 NZ time across the Pacific Ocean to the States. After picking up my hire car around 13.00 Pacific Time US (still on Monday and 4 hours before I left NZ?!) I then plan to drive to Joshua Tree National Park where I will find a motel and probably collapse in a heap.
Because of the time differences and crossing the international date line Monday will be roughly a 40 hour day. So the best thing I can do now is have an early night and not think too hard about Monday 28th April.

And to think I was complaining about a 16 hour travel day to get home from a week in Fiji….

Wow, you are going to go through all that, pick up a car, start driving on the wrong side of the road in Los Angeles rush hour traffic (It starts at about 2:30 or 3:00, I think, not that traffic will be good anyway). I’m sure that, after Auckland being in New Zealand, Joshua Tree didn’t seem very far to drive. Howver, it once took me two hours to drive from Joshua Tree to Rancho Cucamonga, and I think that was on a Saturday when traffic was ‘light’.
Oh, if I had known I would have advised againts this.

I am in Vegas now, Circus Circus to be precise and basically drove straight from LAX to Vegas.
Yes driving jet lagged in LA when you are not use to driving right was a silly idea.
I basically turned out of the car rental lot and up to my first big junction and turned right but ended up on the wrong side of the road with some angry LAers looking back at me.
I then had to reverse back into the intersection to get on the right hand side of the road! Bloody nightmare. I then kept drifting to the right side of the road into the lane next to me.
I then ended up going half way to San Diego as I could not manage to turn around. Pretty sure I was in some dodgy areas too!
Anyway I made it here, saw some Joshua trees on the way and decided not to stay the night in Barstow as planned.
Have to say I forgot how fast wireless broadband can be!
