I have been in Auckland for three weeks now and have found somewhere to live. I am staying in a big house share in the suburb of Ponsonby which is one of the nicer areas of the city. My house has 14 other rooms so lots of people to meet!
I have not really been doing much work over the last few weeks, been too busy meeting people, watching the Rugby and looking for a car / room etc
This is the first time in two years I actually have signed a contract to live somewhere!
So my friend joins me two weeks today and it will be back to business of websites. Quite looking forward to getting stuck in again and introducing someone else to the world of online marketing.

Sounds like a fun place. If you’ve got some cool people in there it should be some seriously fun times ahead for you.
I’m really curious to see how hiring a friend will work for you and look forward to hearing about it. It’s a big step and might be a bit risky but nothing ever happens for people not willing to take some risks.

Its fun starting off in a new city isn’t. Just in the process of doing the same thing myself- we were lucky that we had a vehicle already and the first place we looked at we rented. now just have to get my partner employed - but he’s off at an interview now so fingers crossed I find the local papers a good source of local whats on type info - its interesting what you find if you deliberately do some walking around the neighbourhood too

I have also signed a 2 month lease on a place in Beijing. It is great to finally unpack my bag for the first time in 6 months. I even have a kitchen and a living area. Although, I just realized today I am going to have to keep the place clean and even do my own washing.

I’m jealous…I’ve just went back to an IT contract - hopefully for 6 months max to get some cash. I can’t believe how little I achieved in my time off after being home. I thought I’d be motivated as I had time, but maybe its just the realistation of being home!
Best of luck webby - nice area you are in. I can remember hearing about this visa from you via your Swiss travelling buddy….I may yet apply for and use the same (we’re obviously similar age ;-> )

See if you can do it again. Calculate your rent and other monthly expenses and then see how long it takes, starting from scratch to earn that amount (earn a living) from the internet, knowing what you know now, doing it from the other side of the globe this time.
