So I am also starting to formulate a plan for the next chapter of my life. I have recently purchased a car and will be heading off through the Channel tunnel in a month or so bound for France and Spain.
I find the longer I spend away from the UK the harder it is to get back into life here. I am sure other long term travellers and expats know what I mean. It’s hard to describe but in essence I feel a bit of an outsider in my own country.
When I am overseas there seems to be a lot more people like me about and I find this comforting. I love catching up with friends at home and family is important but feeling part of a like minded community is important too. When I eventually settle down and perhaps have a family of my own I am sure things will seem different.
I have applied for the English Village teaching week again for later in the summer and I am also looking at langauge training myself, probably French, sometime before that.
France has many advantages for me with the major plus that home, familarity and family is only an hour or so away.

You’ll have no problems keeping the income from your sites coming in when living in France, but “normal” work can be a challenge.
The again think of all those great places to visit that you could build a site or two around

Yep, plenty of options, I have some ideas for Expat type sites.
I am hoping to pick up a bit of teaching English work in France later on, possibly around the Toulouse or Bordeaux area.
I know it’s not so big in France to learn English compared to some Euro countries but there seems to be more than I originally thought, particularly around Paris and the bigger cities.
I kind of fell in love with France last year and 60 million of them can’t be wrong!

I heard that France is the most touristed country in the world awhile back. Wonder if that’s still the case. It’s never really ever appealled to me and I have no idea why. I’ll be interested to read more about it.

Yes it recieves 80m visitors a year, much more than Spain and the USA (2nd and 3rd).
This is mainly due to Paris and the fact it is a year round destination with winter holidays accounting for a large chunk…

I once read of a town that decided to become a French teaching center. All the people in town agreed to not speak English with the students, hardly a stretch for the French. But they also agreed to help them, and try to make every encounter a mini-lesson. The idea was to give the students total immersion without traumatizing them. I always thought it sounded like a good way to earn.

Anyone who’d like to go there too and doesn’t know how to survive - a friend of mine sold freshly squeezed orange juice for 2€ on the beach last summer. He made roundabout 100€ a day (oranges cost close to nothing there), but mind you, it’s illegal to sell anything on the beach if you you are doing this as a business.
