I would be very interested in hearing about books on the subject of working remotely. I am sure there will be lots of books on similar subjects such as working from home, affiliate marketing, teleworking etc but I have looked pretty hard and never found anything similar to this site.
This book on teleworking is the closest I have seen.
I have been thinking for a while how cool it would be to write a book on the subject and the topic has come up on our forum. I do wonder whether there is a market for such a topic though?
I am now back in England by the way. Due to certain circumstances I decided to come home a week or so early. I am about to start my second crop of websites and look forward to sharing all the ups and downs with you of starting again!

Well if you don’t, I will. I’ve always thought I had a book in me! I think it’s a great topic, especially if there’s nothing like it out there yet. Perhaps the niche you’ve been looking for this month will prove to be offline, rather than online!

Go to Amazon.com and search for ‘telecommuting’. There is even a ‘for Dummies’ book. I also did a search on ‘working from home’ and ‘telework’. Three pages of results on each.

OK, I looked a little further. Most of are oriented toward having a job and staying at home. There is a textbook from 1997 called Digital Nomad, but that’s about it. Since there are so many on telecommuting, I wonder if they have sections on working internationally.
I searched e-books, too. Time to list yours, I think.
I really thought I’d find more, but it looks like the field is all yours.

I think it’s a growing trend. It would be really interesting to write the book under some form of free licence, so it can be downloaded freely online, but also published for that good old fashioned “paper” feeling!
How about a collaborative project? Between the users of this site there must be enough knowledge to fill a volume or two.
I’ll drop you an email to open the lines of communication…

Thanks stilloutthere, yea I think it is mostly working for a specific company. It does surprise me there is nothing regarding this subject.
I remember spending ages in a big London bookshop looking around and finding nothing a few years before I started this wn thing.
I just found this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Expat-Entrepreneur-Maintain-Portable-Anywhere/dp/1905430132/ref=sr_1_1/202-3372604-4225449?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1176831112&sr=8-1 which is pretty close but not sure it would cover the whole Internet thing.

If you are going to give details about different countries, would a website make more sense for those. How good a place would be to work changes so quickly. You never found any free wifi in Chiang Mai because there wasn’t any. Now there are several places. If this were a website with a blog component, you could add country directories.

That chapter list is not mine, its actually the one from the book I linked to above.
I think the country infrormation would have to be pretty general in order to not be out of date so soon but there again Lonely Planet guides are pretty detailed and often out of date!

Webby, have a look at transitionsabroad.com I think they had a similar book when I was looking around. If it wasn’t there I found one elsewhere - I think it was about ‘portable’ careers rather than what you are doing. Hope that helps. Cheers
Oh, and they are always looking for authors for this kind of thing, although I’m not suggesting you need to hook up with that site.

This new book seems to have a similar WN theme :
