I am going to start a questions and answers theme for a few weeks after a suggestion made on one of my posts. This should give you a good idea where I am and what I have been doing. The first part will focus on the work side of things.
I am still in Auckland and it looks like summer has finally arrived along with some extreme humidity!
How much time you spend working (and looking for a place to work for free)
Ok I am currently working quite a bit more than before. The hostel I am staying at has a free wifi connection
and I figure I am spending 2 hours online and 1 or 2 hours actually creating content / making changes (daily).
So I have no issues looking for free places to work. Overall New Zealand is not a patch on Asia when it comes to free wifi. It seems very rare here and the actual cost of wifi in cafes is 5 times what an Internet cafe charges in some cases. Internet cafes in Auckland are generally NZ$ 2 an hour which is pretty good though.
What sorts of things you are doing with your websites?
Well I have not created any new websites for a while now. What I am trying to do is manage the dozen sites by adding new content. I have learnt that it is better to leave older pages alone unless there needs to be a change made. I do not change TITLE or META tags anymore like I used to. I am finding this is working well with the search engines as they seem to like stable pages.
I am constantly scanning for keywords to find more niches though. There is definetly a correlation between me taking keywords seriously and my increasing income.

I Tink I Tink if you go back & read your first 12 months posts you will see exactly
where as now its a little blah so to speak.
what was working, I have just re read them & they are motivating to say the least
The site has a lot of apeal to someone wanting to do what you have done, but has drifted more to catering to those that are allready well on the way to doing what you have done. Which I belive to be a mistake, I Tink the focus should me on recruting new blood & helping them up the ladder so to speak, sure the older members may not post as much or visit as often but they will allways be around, And I Tink they will participate more when their is someone new who needs advice. Just my 2 cents
From a logical/financial point of view older members are unlikely to spend as a much as new members

Now that you’ve proven it’s possible to be a working nomad, what are your goals? Be a working nomad and save? Buy a condo in Hawayii? Retire? Though what you are doing looks a lot like retirement.

Well all people need to do is read the first 12 months posts!
This site was always likely to evolve into something else, just like my travel experiences and working ways have.
WN makes very little money anyway so I am happy to cater for older members and of course welcome newbies. There is certainly enough info in previous posts and the forum for the less experienced.

Free wifi in your hostel in Auckland? Do tell, which hostel is/was it?
Hope you enjoyed the Routeburn Track — that will probably be our first of the Great Walks (weren’t prepared enough to book a slot on the Milford…).
