December started horribly and I had a number of my worse days for well over a year but somehow I managed to recover, basically from Christmas day onwards which is strange! I expected the Christmas period to be worse not better.
Anyway my earnings for the month came in at a little under GBP 1800 or USD 3500. At one point I did n’t think I’d make 4 figures!
The good run of fortune has continued into Jan and it’s looking like being a good month. I am feeling quite motivated again and have been putting in the hours recently.
For anyone who is interested I worked out my earnings for 2006 and they came in at a little under GBP 22,000 or USD 42,500 which is not bad for a beach bum I suppose

Good Job ! $42,500 is more than respectable
It’s strange I keep reading again & again when your earnings start to take a dive you go put in some extra hours & voila they are back to normal
I would be happy with half of that when I leave next year
fairly soon thats good to know, that a little hard work does pay off.

How does the income look compared to expenses since you left England? I guess you really won’t know until you sell the car.

The car cost less than $300 USD so not much of an impact, I was USD$10,000 in the black compared to when I left in Sept 05 around October time but since then I have spent a fair bit e.g. hospital, trips I never went on and having some money taken…
Going to work it all out soon but would be happy to still be 10k in the black!

Looking at it as a business Webby, I’d say it’s a roaring success. Profit in your case is more than money alone. You are extremely wealthy in terms of freedom and experience.
I still find it inspiring and one day I hope to be enjoying the level of success you are right now.
Great stuff.

Do you mean September 05 or 06? If you were that much in the black after time back in the UK, and traveling in very expensive Europe, you did remarkably well. Very encouraging.

I would be looking at the ‘in the black’ thing more as what you’ve managed to save between when you started and now. The fact that you’ve done it while wandering around the world is a definate bonus. Most people would struggle to save that much in a couple years working flat out, let along cruising around Europe, Asia and Oz/NZ.

I mean September 06 - Europe was more expensive for sure but I was staying with family a lot of the time which made a big difference.
Even having that week in Spain where I hardly spent a thing helped as well.
You must also consider that I have always been pretty good at budgeting and I rarely waste money on expensive gadgets / materialistic things.
If I did n’t like the taste of beer and wine I’d probably be in a much stronger position!
I hope this is encouraging to all you office bound people!
